Ramon Manent

The photographer Ramon Manent (Mataró, 1948) specialises in Catalan art and architecture from the Romanesque and Gothic periods and, specially, from Modernism. From the latter, Gaudí's work stands out and Manent has managed to emphasise its forms, textures and colours. His images on the architect's work reveal a personal sensitivity in capturing objects, light and space. He has also embraced the photography applied to anthropological reports, using very diverse locations as settings, from the urban architecture of the Manhattan skyscrapers to the landscape of classical Greece or the rocky surroundings of Cappadocia. He has collaborated on a great number of artistic, cultural and social publications, of which those devoted to Gaudí's work stand out, especially the monographic books El Palau Güell (Güell Palace) (Diputació de Barcelona, Barcelona, 1990) and La Pedrera. Gaudí i la seva obra (La Pedrera. Gaudí and his Work) (Fundació Caixa Catalunya, Barcelona, 1998).
