Vilanova i la Geltrú pays homage to Gaudí

The iron sculpture Homage to Gaudí will be included in the second phase of the Heritage Restoration project promoted by Vilanova i la Geltrú Town Council.

The work was presented to the city by the gallery owner Miquel Adrià in memory of his great-great-grandfather, Miquel Guansé, a local Republican politician. The sculpture was created by Salvador Aulèstia (1919-1994) and is one of the most representative examples of this artist. In 1969, it was placed in the Maritime Walkway of Vilanova and now the Town Council has decided to restore it for 2002 coinciding with the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí's birth.
