Small pleasures... in Güell Park

Between 6.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m., Güell Park will be the venue for Small pleasures, an artistic event in the most popular Modernista urban park in the world. Some 60 different activities led by actors, musicians, performers and dancers from the Ilotopie company and the Associació Marató de l'Espectacle invite us to rediscover this emblematic natural and architectural environment.
For some years now, Ilotopie has been intriguing audiences with Land Act, which they describe as "landscape action": man in action at the centre of the new landscape utopias. On this occasion, as a tribute to Gaudí and in collaboration with the Associació Marató de l'Espectacle, they have chosen to fill Güell Park with extraordinary life, in which man moves amidst his mineral, organic and cosmic bonds.
During these fascinating strolls through the park, visitors will discover powerful images of actors seemingly consumed by matter itself, performances unlike anything seen before, new-born men and various other characters, all of which is the result of the utopian split between mankind and nature. The little men of this theatre of space, who are melded with the architecture of the park, will turn the public into witnesses of their repetitive actions: the slowness of snail races, caged actors, delicate noises wafting through the avenues, soloists playing to the stones...
Over 60 artists and installations will encourage visitors to wander along a path where they will find everything, from the solitary, naked and multicolour man to bionic installations. Here we have a park of perfumes, emotions, sensuality and utopias, a park of the 21st century.

With the collaboration of the ASSOCIACIÓ MARATÓ DE L'ESPECTACLE

A night of light and fire at Sagrada Família

This will be a magical and unrepeatable night in Barcelona. A night of light and fire at Sagrada Família, an adventure of light and music conceived by the renowned French company Groupe F, directed by Christophe Berthonneau, will begin at 10.00 p.m. in the church environs.
Visitors will have the opportunity to go on an unforgettable journey through the various scenes and enjoy a unique atmosphere. Groupe F will present a work consisting of light and music that will grow in force over the course of the evening until the church is transfigured by fireworks, the high point of the event that will take place at midnight and last for approximately ten minutes.
Two very different musical groups will provide original sound accompaniment at each of the façades, interrupted on occasions by sacred and profane recordings chosen for the occasion. Alongside the Passion Façade, the Barcelona Municipal Orchestra will intermittently play pieces that inspired Gaudí (Maurice Ravel, Modest Mussorgsky and Hector Berlioz). At the Glory Façade, there will be contemporary music solos will be performing. The music will accompany the plastic creation of lights that will take shape on the building.
The event is deliberately concentrated in terms of time to ensure that it constitutes a grandiose event, and will make the most of the forms of the building, adding a passionate vivacity to them.
Primitive fire, the exuberance of the plant kingdom and the marine world will be the dominant and which will make the towers vibrate from the ground upwards while interpreting their majestic lofty height.
Participating musicians: Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Patrick Boronat (cello), Marc Lauras (cello) and Laurent Dehors (saxo).

Firework display at 12 am

The burst of fireworks at midnight with music, light and colour will be the culminating point of this festive day of 1 June. By using movement and vivacity, this final explosion will leave those present with the feeling that time has stopped still during this exceptional moment. The bursts of blue, red, golden and white light imbued with a certain solemnity will illuminate the entire city and leave a potent image of the building as never seen before. You can follow the Firework Display from all the places in Barcelona from where you can see Sagrada Família.
Director: Cristophe Berthonneau

Lighting design: Michel Touitou

Organised by: Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport
